Solon turns over P2.5M worth of checks to scholars
ROXAS CITY – Capiz First District Rep. Antonio del Rosario turned over P2.5 million worth of check grants to 640 scholars for second semester of school year 2010-2011, last Saturday at Espacio Verde Resort in Dayao.
Of the 640 scholars, 180 received P2,500 each per semester while 460 received P2,500 each for a year.
The scholars individually received their checks. The total P2.5-million assistance was turned over by Del Rosario in ceremonial rites to the scholars.
Also present during the distribution of checks was Nona Fernandez of CHED and Melanie del Rosario Arancillo, sister of the congressman.
In his message, Del Rosario asked the students to help the congressional district by landing a job after they graduate.
Del Rosario said providing scholarships to poor but deserving students is among his priorities.
Meanwhile, the scholars thanked Del Rosario for giving them an opportunity to go to school through the scholarship grant.*
