8 election officers in WV to be reshuffled
At least eight election officers in Western Visayas will be reshuffled soon, Commission on Elections Regional Director Dennis Ausan said.
Those who will be transferred have been disqualified from their present assignments mainly because they have relatives, either by consanguinity of affinity, who are seeking office in the October 25 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, he said.
Two of these elections officers are in Aklan, three in Negros Occidental, and three in Iloilo, including the city, and Badiangan and Bingawan towns.
Ausan said though not all of these elections officers will be transferred due to disqualification.
To accommodate those who were disqualified, we have to move the others and swap their positions, he said.
Iloilo City Election Officer Bert Arbis will be transferred to Jordan, Guimaras. He will be replaced by Tomas Valera, COMELEC assistant regional director.
“I have a pending disqualification because some of my wife’s relatives are running for barangay captain and kagawad,” Arbis said.
Arbis said he also wants to be transferred to ensure fairness during the elections in Iloilo City.*
