Iloilo to come up with quality seal for products
Consumers will soon find it easier to look for Ilonggo products that are up to standards with the coming of a quality seal by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Foundation.
Trade and Industry Provincial Director Wilhelm Malones said the quality seal is now with the Intellectual Property Office for patent requirement and is expected to be released before the end of the year.
Once the patent requirement is completed, the SMED will come up with a criteria or set of standards and those found compliant will bear the trademark “Iloilo’s Finest.”
Malones added that the trademark will be more of a quality or safety seal such that the initial focus would probably be on foods or Ilonggo delicacies.
To recall years ago the province of Aklan also came out with its quality seal for its piña products.*PNA
