Iloilo, Bacolod now twin cities
Iloilo and Bacolod are now officially twin cities after their respective mayors signed an agreement for the partnership in Bacolod City yesterday.
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia sealed the twinning agreement in rites held at the New Government Center of Bacolod City.
“We will share best practices and collaborate promotions. The socio-economic ties would boost tourism for both cities as we will promote tour packages for two cities,” Mabilog said.
He noted that the proximity, same dialect, and almost the same character of the two places make them ideal “twin cities.”
Iloilo’s sister cities also include Makati City; Stockton in California; Honolulu in Hawaii; and Dededo in Guam; and Qing Dao and Guigang in China.*
