Taxi drivers told to follow ‘log-in, log-out’ scheme
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has urged taxi drivers to strictly observe the “log-in, log-out” system to avoid being victimized by robbers.
Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi, city police director, said with the semestral break, a large volume of passengers are expected to arrive in bus terminals and ports and criminals are also expected to look for victims at this time.
Basngi said the number of passengers would double again during the celebration of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.
He said he wanted drivers to observe the scheme as majority of taxi operators have already agreed to follow.
As a policy, Basngi said taxi drivers must log-in to any Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) before going to their destination especially out-of-town. They are also required to log-out after completing their transactions with their passengers.
He said the use of radio system is also recommended so that the ICPO will have access to the drivers.
Four hold-up incidents victimizing taxi drivers have been recorded by the ICPO since last month. Some of the victims were killed.
The True Brown Style (TBS) 13 youth criminal group was considered responsible for the series of robbery incidents involving taxi drivers.*
