Bet’s supporter shot
ROXAS CITY – A supporter of a candidate for barangay captain in Poblacion Tabuc, Pontevedra, Capiz was wounded after he was shot by an unidentified assailant yesterday morning.
Inspector Kenneth Militar, town police chief, identified the victim as Nick Estoquia, a resident of Ilas Norte, Dao, Capiz.
The suspect was reportedly a supporter of a rival candidate.
Militar said Estoquia suffered a lone gunshot wound. He was rushed to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Iloilo City.
Militar said the incident took place at around 7 a.m. yesterday when the victim and the suspect met each other.
He said the incident can be considered election-related as the two are supporters of candidates running for barangay captain – incumbent village head Baltazar Belvis and challenger Boboy Dullano.
The police recovered from the scene of incident several spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol and of an M-16 Armalite rifle.*
