Candidate killed in Lambunao; 3 voters die in Passi accident
A candidate for village councilman in Lambunao, Iloilo was killed by his relative last Saturday.
Police identified the victim as Erneste Clemete of Cabatangan village, the town’s farthest barangay. He was shot by his cousin Ernie Lastimoso.
According to Lambunao Police Station, the village could be reached by trekking for about five hours aside from a vehicle ride through some 20 kilometers of mostly rough roads.
Reports said Lastimoso was angry at Clemente for running against his (Lastimoso) wife.
Lastimoso fled after incident.
Clemente’s death is the second poll-related incident in the province of Iloilo.
Re-electionist councilman Rolando Lopines of Datagan village, Calinog town was also killed last week, but the police said his death could not be election-related as it probably resulted from an argument during a drinking spree.
