Vote buying still rampant
Several residents in Iloilo City have complained of rampant vote buying during the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections yesterday.
The bribe money allegedly ranged from P200 to P500.
In La Paz district, policemen checked out Magsaysay Village after receiving information of massive vote buying in the area.
When they reached the area, residents denied any knowledge of vote buying.
In Molo district, a female voter from North Baluarte claimed to have received money from a leader of a candidate running for barangay chairman.
She presented the sample ballot to the police along with the P220 given to her to vote for the said candidate and his seven runningmates for village councilman.
Since the police did not catch the alleged “vote buyer” in the act, they just booked Juanico’s complaint.*JPR
