Neophyte cop killed in motorcycle crash
A neophyte policeman died in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening in Brgy. Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Police Officer 1 Joemar Virgo, 26, of Oñate St., Mandurriao district, was traversing the national highway when his motorcycle hit a dump truck parked on the roadside.
Virgo’s motorcycle went straight under the truck.
Witness Stephen Oreta said he was awakened when he heard a loud thud outside his house.
When he went out, he saw bloodied Virgo lying on the pavement.
Virgo, a member of the Iloilo City Public Safety Management Company, was brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, traffic investigators questioned why was the truck was parked on the roadside of the national highway which is considered illegal.
The truck was owned by a certain Eduardo Labordo, police said.*
