20 Capiz villages conduct special polls
ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Elections conducted yesterday the polls in 20 remaining barangays in Capiz.
Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño said the election in the 20 villages in Tapaz, Jamindan and Sapian started smoothly at 7 a.m.
The teachers arrived assigned in polling places without problems.
“As usual the common problem of some voters is their missing names in the list of registered voters,” Arceño said.
However, after a verification, it was found that these voters were deactivated for failure to vote in the last two elections.
As of 8:30 a.m. yesterday, they have not recorded any election related incident, Arceño said.
The Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army have also provided tight security to ensure a peaceful conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in these areas yesterday.
These include 13 upland barangays in Tapaz; five in Jamindan; and two in Sapian.
The 20 villages in Capiz are among the 2,418 barangays in the country and among the 57 in Western Visayas that failed to hold elections on Monday for lack of election paraphernalia.*PIA
