PNP lauds support for peaceful elections
ROXAS CITY – The Philippine National Police has acknowledged the Capiceños’ cooperation in the holding of a generally peaceful and orderly elections last Monday.
Capiz Police Provincial Director Renato Gumban said with the intensified campaign in the holding of an honest, orderly and peaceful elections (HOPE), Capiz was able to hold successful polls in 253 barangays on October 25.
Gumban said the security preparations of the Joint Security Coordinating Center led by the Commission on Elections greatly contributed to the peaceful electoral process.
Except for two shooting incidents in Brgy. Tabuc, Pontevedra and in Maninang, Sapian, Capiz, including some minor commotions involving candidates and their supporters, they have not recorded major election-related incidents.
Gumban said the police visibility operations and the reinforcement of the Philippine Army also helped in the conduct of peaceful elections.
He said policemen also secured the elections in the remaining 20 barangays in Capiz.*PIA
