Ganzon hails establishment of city college
Iloilo City Councilor Jeffrey Ganzon, staunch proponent of the city college, said he appreciates the effort of Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog of approving his long proposed project.
On Tuesday, Mabilog announced that the P25-million Iloilo City Community College building will soon rise at the site of the old Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources building in San Pedro, Molo district.
Ilonggo businessman Edgar Sia II, owner of Mang Insal Philippines and head of the Injap Foundation Inc., has pledged to fund the building construction.
The city college will offer a ladderized program of courses.
Ganzon said he hopes the city college will open next school year to provide quality education to the less fortunate but deserving Ilonggo students.
The city government has allocated P2 million budget for scholarships.
“I am very thankful that this time, the project will finally materialize,” Ganzon said.
He added: “Our good mayor reassessed the project first and maybe he saw how important the city college is, unlike the others who only criticized and opposed the project without visualization.”
