Ma, daughter killed by Sigma VM’s son
ROXAS CITY – A woman from Sigma town and her daughter were killed while her younger child was wounded when the son of Sigma Vice Mayor Rodolfo Simon, Rodelio, stabbed them while they were asleep in their house in Poblacion Sur at around 1:30 a.m. on November 1.
Senior Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Nata, investigator of Sigma Police Station, identified the fatalities as Lorna Marquinez, 50, and her daughter Mary Jane, 27.
Lorna’s wounded daughter was identified as Jenny, 16.
Lorna and Mary Jane, who sustained almost the same stab wounds below their chests, were brought to Saint Anthony College Hospital here, where attending physicians declared them dead.
Jenny suffered minor wounds on her hand and was declared out of danger.
Nata said Simon, 31, forcibly entered the house of Marquinez family and stabbed Mary Jane first. When her mother Lorna woke up, the suspect also attacked her.
Jenny although wounded was able to go out and sought help from their neighbors.
Nata said the suspect’s father Vice Mayor Rodolfo Simon, whose house is near the Marquinez family home, responded and fired a shot at the suspect whom he didn’t know was his son.
Rodelio hid at a nearby school and later yielded when his uncle Chief Inspector Norberto Simon facilitated his surrender to the police.
Police said the motive of killing has yet to be established because the victims are family friends and supporters of the Simons.
Rodelio, who is detained at Sigma Police Station, asked forgiveness from the family of the victims, saying that he was not aware of what he did.
His father, meanwhile, was at a loss for words over the incident involving his son.*
