3 fishing boats seized
Three fishing boats were seized by the Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force for illegally fishing in the municipal waters of Concepcion, Iloilo.
Provincial Agriculturist Ildefonso Toledo said the three fishing boats, apprehended on October 30 and 31, were all from Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The fishing boats include the F/B Karlyn owned by Nynalyn Brillantes; F/B Toto 1 owned by Rudy Dequito; and F/B DJ owned by Darey Tornea.
Toledo said cases for violation of Section 86 of the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 have been filed against the boat owners and their crew members before the 4th Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Concepcion and San Dionisio.
Last October 14 and 16, 2010 the Bantay Dagat also apprehended 11 fishing boats in Concepcion, Iloilo.
Toledo said many illegal fishers operate in Concepcion because of the abundance of fish in the area.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. had earlier directed Iloilo Provincial Police Office chief Gil Lebin to wage an all-out campaign against illegal fishing activities in the province.*
