City Council lauds owner of Mang Inasal
ROXAS CITY – The City Council has passed a resolution expressing commendation and sincere appreciation to Edgar Sia II, owner of Mang Inasal, for his worthwhile contribution towards the economic development and quality life in Roxas City.
The resolution was authored by Councilor Powell del Rosario and unanimously approved by his colleagues in Tuesday’s regular session.
It stated that Sia, the man behind Mang Inasal, one of the fastest growing food companies in the Philippines, has become an icon of modern Ilonggo culinary culture and has shown how the belief of one person in the economic potentials of one place can trickle down to the benefits of its residents, providing much-needed taxes and jobs for the people.
Sia was one of the winners in the 5th Young Market Masters Awards, and also received the Urban Leadership Award from the Canadian Urban Institute, which made him outstanding contributor to the enhancement of the public realm and the quality of life in Roxas City, the resolution added.
Mang Inasal, as the fastest growing barbecue fastfood chain, has an estimated annual income of P2.6 billion and system wide sales of P3.8 billion. It now has 250 stores and it has become the sixth largest fast food chain in the country.
The resolution said that Mang Inasal is doing its share in alleviating the unemployment burden of the country by employing 8,000 employees nationwide.
Mang Inasal provides opportunities to community members, including suppliers of kalamansi, charcoal, banana leaves, vegetables, bamboo sticks, and other ingredients, it added.*
