DILG 6 deploys evaluators for Capiz EXCELL entries
ROXAS CITY – An evaluation team recently came to Capiz to validate the entries of the province to the Western Visayas Excellence in Local Governance Awards.
Capiz Interior and Local Government Operation Services Division head Llanie Destacamento said a 14-man team from different national agencies and civic groups in Region 6 stayed for two days.
The team, headed by DILG 6 Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Ma. Calpiza Sardua, evaluated the towns of Panay and Ivisan, Roxas City, and the Capiz provincial government.
Among those who conducted the validation for the WV EXCELL Awards were Ana Lee Mustacho of DILG, Jerry Porras of the Department of Health, Perla Haro of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Chief Inspector Sally Manuel of the Philippine National Police, Dr. Hector Peñaranda of the Department of Agriculture and Elena Mandario of the Department of Trade and Industry.
Other evaluators are Artem Colacion and Nelson De Felix of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Emilia Galache of the Bureau of Local Government Finance, Ma. Joefel Soldevilla of the Philippine Councilors League, Alma May Tayo of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Inc., Jay Presaldo of the Canadian Urban Institute, and Carmela Ariza of GTZ.
Panay is the province’s entry to the EXCELL Regional Awards for Category A, for first to third class municipalities, after winning in the provincial search here.
Ivisan town will vie in the fourth to sixth class category.
Roxas City and Capiz province will automatically compete for the component city and provincial category, respectively.
The EXCELL Awards is a continuing project of the DILG 6 which recognizes the best managed local governments in the region that demonstrate best practices, achievements and innovations in governance, administration, social services, economic development, environmental management and local legislation.
The program also aims to advocate for transparency and accountability in governance, positively reinforce good performers, popularize replicable best practices and identify possible interventions to improve the LGU performance.*PIA
