1 killed, 1 hurt over liquor conflict
A 20-year-old man was killed while another was injured after they were stabbed while drinking beer early morning yesterday at Muelle Loney area in City Proper, Iloilo City.
Police identified the fatality as Hansel Lacson of Brgy. Maabay, Sibunag, Guimaras and his injured companion, Jerro Grana, 19, of Brgy. East Timawa, Molo district.
Lacson, who was stabbed on the back, died shortly after he was brought to Iloilo St. Paul’s Hospital.
Grana is being treated in another hospital for his left shoulder injury.
Police reports said the two were drinking beer by the roadside of Muelle Loney when Grana’s beer bottle fell from the table.
The group of suspect Romeo Poblete, who were also on a drinking spree, reacted and Poblete broke a liquor bottle and stabbed the victims.
Lacson’s father, Hernani, thought first his son passed out from too much drink.
When he saw that blood coming from his son’s body, he brought him to the hospital.
Poblete and his group fled.
Policemen failed to arrest them during a hot pursuit operation.*
