Antique gets P.5-M fund for disaster management
The province of Antique has received a grant of P500,000 from the Local Government Academy of the Philippines (LGA) for Inter-Municipal Community-Based Disaster Management.
Dubbed as Panibagong Paraan sa Pagpapalakas ng Pamahalaang Panglokal (5Ps), the LGA program provides incentives to local government units that excel in the grant completion for innovative local governance.
Antique’s proposal prepared by Raymund Palanong, local government operations officer V of Pandan, Antique is one among the five winners of the grant competition nationwide.
Palanog said the Inter-Municipal Community Based Disaster Management aims to capacitate first responders in the local government units in times of disasters and calamities by means of providing them training and simulation exercises.
It also aims to come up with coordinative mechanisms and structures at the local government level (barangay and municipality) for pre and post disaster intervention.
Last week, the DILG Antique headed by Provincial Director Victorio Pagapulan conducted a five-day training on Inter-Municipal Community Based Disaster Management covering the municipalities of Pandan, Sebaste, Culasi and Tibiao.
