Night run to raise funds for needy Ilonggo kids
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Vice Mayor Jose Espinosa III are calling on Ilonggos to participate in the City Government-led night running event on November 19.
Proceeds from the run-for-a-cause will benefit the Emmanuel Foundation that helps and cares for children with special needs and the Breaking Barriers for Young Adults that caters to differently-abled youth.
The night run will kick off Iloilo City’s Christmas lighting project dubbed “A Fair in December.”
The event will start at 7 p.m. from Robinsons Place Iloilo and end at La Paz plaza, after the simultaneous switching on of Christmas lights in district squares and main city thoroughfares.
Rommel Castro, coordinator of the City Sports Council, said participants will include at least 1,700 regular employees of City Hall, some 3,000 casual workers, and about 1,000 participants from private sector.
City government employees may register for P20 while other participants in the 3K Kiddie and 5K Night Run for P100.
Winners for Kiddie category in both boy and girl divisions will each receive P1,500 while the first runner-up, P1,000 and the second runner-up, P500.
The champions for Night Run in female and male divisions will each be given P3,000. The first runner-up will get P2,000 while the second runner-up, P1,000.
Exciting freebies and other prizes will be given to the first 250 finishers of the 5K race and the first 150 finishers of the 3K run.*
