‘BSPOs link between gov’t, people’
More than 2,000 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) volunteers in Iloilo province will converge at the Provincial Capitol grounds on November 26 for the BSPO Day celebration.
Provincial Population Office head Ramon Yee said the gathering is part of the celebration of Population Development Week nationwide set from November 23 to 29.
Third District Rep. Arthur Defensor Jr. will be the guest of honor during the BSPO Day.
He said the occasion is one way of honoring the volunteer BSPOs who have a significant role in nation building.
Yee said these volunteers are responsible for gathering data from the ground that are used by the provincial government in formulating policy programs and projects for development.
“They are the ones who serve as link between the government and the people,” he said.
Part of the BSPO Day is the holding of the Search for the Most Outstanding Population Databank and the Search for Outstanding Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects funded by the provincial government.
The week-long celebration will start on November 22 with the opening of a photo exhibit that will feature the various programs of the Provincial Population Office.*
