Agribusiness marketplace slated today
The Visayas Agribusiness Market Place, where municipalities from the entire Visayas covered by the Convergence Initiative and prospective investors meet, will be held today at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center in Iloilo City.
The VAMP is the marketing and business matching platform of agribusiness investment proposals developed by the regional or provincial action officers of the convergence initiative.
Regional Director Larry Nacionales of the Department of Agriculture said investment proposals cover the production, processing and marketing requirements of high value crops.
Some municipalities will exhibit their products.
The three rural development agencies which implement the programs and projects of the convergence initiative are the DA, Department of Agrarian Reform and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The German Technical Cooperation or GTZ is the development partner of the national convergence initiative.
During the launching of the program last September 16, the DA released P4.8 million to the convergence areas in Antique to assist farmers in their livelihood in order to mitigate hunger.
Declared convergence areas in Antique are the towns of Barbaza, Laua-an, Bugasong, Patnongon and Valderrama.*
