Celino vows to support business sector initiatives
ROXAS CTIY – Mayor Angel Alan Celino has vowed to support the development plan of the business sector here for a better Roxas City.
Celino made the pledge with Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas during the consultative dinner-meeting with the local business groups led by Leny Albert Apaitan, president of Roxas City Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc., and Jose Nery Ong, president of Capiz Halaran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held at Soul Superclub here last week.
“You can use me whether in personal or politics and I will not abuse you,” Celino quipped, adding that because “ I’m now your mayor, I have no choice but to support you.”
Celino is reportedly not in good terms with some businessmen in the city who supported his predecessor Vicente Bermejo, but he denied being an anti-businessmen as he stressed that he will involve the business sector in planning for a better Roxas City.
Initiatives
Celino said he will initiate a dry-run for a two-way traffic at Roxas Avenue to support business establishments in the area.
He added that due to traffic congestion, the terminal from kilometer one will be transferred to Lawaan area.
Celino also urged the businessmen to put up a capital for an equipment in making bamboo sticks for Mang Inasal fastfood chain, which pledged to source 50 percent of its bamboo sticks supply in Roxas City.
He said other plans include a road extension from San Roque passing through the airport going to Baybay, and the possible construction of a bridge from Culasi to Libas.
Celino said he will also facilitate the entry of Mc Donalds fastfood chain in the city. The proposal is to put up a store at the unfinished government building in Taft Street.*
