34 out 47 village chiefs vow to support Celino
ROXAS CITY – Thirty-four out of 47 barangay captains in the city have signed a manifesto of support for Mayor Angel Alan Celino.
In a three-page manifesto, the village chiefs said they firmly believe that the leadership of Celino will bring progress and development to the city.
They added that “the outcome of whatever they will do, will be even better if they work hand in hand for indeed in unity they can stand.”
“In attaining the ‘change’ we need, the present administration has put together plans and programs for the general, social and economic development of Roxas City beneficial to its people,” they said.
Reports said the Liberal Party has 22 allied barangay captains in the city while the Ugyon Kita Capiz has 25.
Former Councilor Gilbert Tan, now city administrator, said more village chiefs are expected to support the Celino administration.
Meanwhile, Liga President Wilson Acervo said that even if 34 village chiefs have signified their intention to support the Celino administration, it does not mean that they will also support the administration’s Liga candidate.
“They will support the honorable mayor’s plans and program but it does not follow they will do the same to Celino’s candidate for Liga president,” Acervo said.
Acervo, who is seeking reelection as Liga ng mga Barangay president, said he is confident his allies will still support him.
A four-cornered fight is expected in the race for Liga presidency – between Acervo, Alfredo Albaladejo of Tiza, Randee Albar of Lawaan and Maria Capapas of San Jose. Capapas is the aunt of Celino.*
