60 BPAT members trained
ROXAS CITY – About 60 volunteers for the Barangay Peacekeeping Actions Teams were trained by the Roxas City Police Station last November 23 at the Roxas City Hall.
The participants were from Barangays IV, Culasi, Inzo Arnadlo and Tanque.
RCPS Public Information Officer PO2 Ramil Arcangeles said the peacekeeping teams will assist authorities as force multipliers in the implementation of crime prevention programs by reporting potential peace and order problems to village or police officials.
Each team is composed of a barangay chairman and seven tanods under the supervision of the local police chief and Police Community Relations non-commissioned officer.
The training was also attended Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol Jr., director of Police Regional Office 6, as guest of honor and training lecturer.
Querol was director of Capiz Police Provincial Office in 2006 when it was adjudged the Best Provincial Office in the region.
Roxas City Mayor Angel Alan Celino said the city government will work out the provision of insurance for BPAT members.
He said peace and order along with health, opportunities and environmental protection is part of his development agenda under the acronym H.O.P.E. (Health, Opportunities, Peace, Environment).*PIA
