Stabbed female village chief critical; brother killed
It was a bloody first day of work for village chief Criselda Pelaez of Tamucon, Badiangan, Iloilo.
Pelaez, 41, is now critical after she was stabbed by her constituent identified as Ernesto Abordaje Wednesday afternoon.
Her brother, Ronnie, died in the same attack.
Police said that around 3:30 p.m., Pelaez was walking through their village when she bumped into Abordaje.
It was not known who started the argument but witnesses then saw Pelaez and Abordaje getting into a heated conversation,
Pelaez’s brother arrived shortly to defend his sister. He then stabbed the village chief’s brother four times. Before he left, Abordaje also stabbed Pelaez.
Ronnie was rushed to Don Roman Tirador Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay town where he was proclaimed dead.
Pelaez is now confined at West Visayas State University Medical Center in Iloilo City.
Meanwhile, police investigators debunked politics as the assailant’s motive as it could have been triggered by a personal grudge instead.
Several months back, Pelaez suspected Abordaje to have burglarized their house but it was established later that another person did it.*
