500 cops secure festival
ROXAS CITY – About 500 police personnel, including national support units, are securing the Sinadya sa Halaran festival in Capiz which will run until December 8.
Capiz Police Information Officer Donna Asmod said Capiz police personnel are being augmented by forces from the Police Regional Office 6 and Philippine Army.
Others are members of the Reserved Officers Training Corps, police interns, traffic aides, and volunteers from the Barangay Peacekeeping Teams and other force multipliers.
Eighteen police assistance centers have been established in strategic areas around Roxas City for prompt police response and assistance.
An advance command post, manned by operations personnel of the CPPO and with the supervision of Deputy Task Group Commander Supt. Louis Garong, has also been set up at the “Balay Capiznon” s adjacent to the Provincial Capitol to monitor and receive situation reports.
The CPPO has also initiated intensified police visibility and check point operations inside and outside the city.
An ambulance, fire truck and a detainee van are also on stand-by near the advance command post.
The implementation of the security plan is being supervised by Roxas City Police chief Khasmir Desomangcop, commander of the Sinadya sa Halaran Task Group.
CPPO director Renato Gumban has called on Capiceños and visitors to be security conscious at all times especially in crowded places.
Gumban said “snatchers, pickpockets and other lawless elements are just on watch waiting for a chance.”
He also urged the public to be prompt in asking for police assistance, if needed.*PIA
