DTI launches Capiz quality seal
ROXAS CITY – The provincial quality seal of Capiz was launched by the Department of Trade and Industry last Friday during the opening of the Capiz Product Expo at the Gaisano City mall.
The Provincial Quality Seal is a priority project of the DTI and Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council.
The project aims to raise the level of consciousness of the local MSMEs to always strive for product and service excellence.
DTI Provincial Director Ermelinda Pollentes said the seal serves as a geographical indication identifying the product’s place of origin and denoting quality and reputation.
“It will be imprinted in the packaging of locally manufactured products, and/or edifice of a service firm which has passed the strict quality standards set by the Committees created by the Council,” Pollentes said.
The first firm which has earned the distinction of bearing the quality seal is the Capiz Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
With the province’s quality seal, Pollentes is hopeful to soon find the Capiz products in the shelves and racks of leading supermarkets and malls nationwide and also in the export market.
Under the DTI, 21 MSMEs in Capiz are joining the Capiz Product Expo dubbed “Manggad sang Capiz,” one of the highlights of this year’s Sinadya sa Halaran festival which will run until December 8.*PIA
