FCU, Capiz province ink pact to promote tourism
ROXAS CITY – The Filamer Christian University and the Capiz provincial government signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly promote the province as an eco-toursim hub.
Under the MOU, the FCU will assist the provincial government in implementing the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Development Plan (PTCDP) by providing human resources and technical and logistic support.
Meanwhile, the provincial government will help the FCU College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism in enhancing its academic standards by involving teachers and students in implementing tourism programs.
The MOU also intends to enhance the capacity and capability of the province’s human resources, prepare community-based tourism attractions or destinations based on standards set by the Department of Tourism, and implement programs and projects of the PTCDP.
Board Member Jonathan Besa, chairman of tourism, arts, culture and indigenous peoples committee, said the agreement was signed on during the 5th Provincial Convention of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism Teachers and Students held at FCU recently.
Youth Camp
Meanwhile, FCU student Rio Carl Miguel, a senior year student of the College of Arts and Sciences, is attending the Sunburst Youth Camp in Singapore from December 5 to 11.
Miguel, president of FCU Student Republic, is the only representative from Capiz among the eight students from Western Visayas who qualified for the youth camp organized by the Singapore Technologies Endowment Program Limited in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education.*
