Querol: Police gaining headway vs TBS gang
The police is gaining headway in its campaign to neutralize the notorious True Brown Style (TBS) 13 youth gang, said Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, police regional director.
Querol said they are in the process of updating their records on the existing membership of the group, which has owned up to several robbery-slay incidents that victimized taxi drivers.
“We are also checking our records for their possible involvement in other criminal activities,” he said.
If they have pending criminal cases or warrant of arrests, Querol said he will order a massive manhunt against the group.
He said they are also investigating reports about the alleged police protector of the group.
“However, we have not received any intelligence report of any Philippine National Police member who protects them, like providing them with firearms or other weapons,” he said.
Waning
Querol said that following the death of TBS 13 gang leader Emmanuel Roquero, the group’s criminal activities have started to wane.
The TBS 13 has three sub-groups – the TBS Bloods, TBS Creeps and TBS Trese.
The Iloilo City Police Office said the TBS Bloods operates in Molo and Arevalo districts; the TBS Creeps in La Paz, Jaro and Mandurriao districts; and the TBS Trese in the City Proper.
A certain Dante Abaygar founded the TBS 13 but left the group to seek a “serene life.”
His absence paved the way for the leadership of Alvin Dizon and a certain Luigi.
It was during the duo’s leadership that the gang began robbing and killing taxi drivers as part of their initiation rites.
But Dizon’s leadership was only short-lived after he was arrested in a drug operation while Roquero, who succeeded him, was summarily executed more than a week ago.*
