Capiz guv named RDC 6 chairman
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. has been appointed chairman of the Regional Development Council 6, along with co-chair Marissa Segovia, former chairperson of the Iloilo Business Club, by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, the National Economic Development Authority 6 announced yesterday.
NEDA 6 Director Ro-Ann Bacal said their appointments were confirmed through an Omnibus Appointment Letter sent by Malacañang to NEDA Secretary Cayetano Paderanga and forwarded to her on December 13.
The RDC is composed of governors, city and capital town mayors, presidents of the League of Municipalities, selected regional directors of national line agencies, and private sector representatives.
Both Tanco and Segovia were nominated during the September 13 meeting of RDC 6.
Tanco is a graduate of Business Administration from University of the Philippines-Diliman and his career has been centered on local governance starting as a councilor for three terms in Dumarao, Capiz and eventually as a three-termer mayor.
He has also served as vice governor of Capiz for three terms and is now in his second term as governor.
Meanwhile, Segovia, who was IBC chairperson from 2001 to 2005, is also a member of various business organizations, advocating for socio-economic development and business-friendly region.
A graduate of Management from Ateneo de Manila University, she is currently vice president for operations for Nissan-Iloilo, and other businesses under the Segovia Enterprises.
Bacal said she is looking forward to working with the new RDC officers in effectively steering Western Visayas towards development.*
