Panay, Ivisan dominate local governance awards
ROXAS CITY – The municipalities of Panay and Ivisan in Capiz were named champions in their respective categories in the 2010 Excellence in Local Governance awards in Capiz.
Interior and Local Government Regional Director Evelyn Trompeta and Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco handed over cash prizes and trophies to Panay and Ivisan representatives after they were declared winners in Category A (1st to 3rd class municipalities) and Category B (4th to 6th class), respectively.
In the special awards, Ivisan received the recognition for Excellence in Administrative Governance, Social Services, and Environmental Management.
The Excellence in Local Legislation special award was given to Panay, while the local government of Mambusao was recognized for Excellence in Economic Governance.
Under category A, Mambusao and Maayon won second and third places, respectively.
Cuartero and Dumalag placed second and third, respectively, in Category B.
Aside from the EXCELL Awards, the 2010 Outstanding Barangay Tanods, Greenest and Cleanest Highway and Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran winners were also recognized.
This year’s outstanding tanods include those from Brgy. Ilaya-Ivisan in Ivisan town as champion, with Jaena Norte in Jamindan and Poblacion in President Roxas as second and third placers, respectively.*PIA
