PEDC coal plant connects to Cebu-Negros-Panay grid
The Panay Energy Development Corp. announced yesterday it has connected to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines’ Cebu-Negros-Panay (CNP) grid, fully delivering 82-megawatts of electricity from the first unit of its coal-fired power plant in La Paz, Iloilo City.
PEDC, a subsidiary of Global Business Power Corp., initially supplied 21 megawatts to the CNP grid last November 17.
Henry Alcalde, PEDC vice president and deputy general manager for Panay Operations, said the 82-megawatt power supply, synchronized with the grid on the evening of December 22, is delivered through NGCP’s 69 KV transmission line to Sta. Barbara sub-station, the connecting point to the power grid.
PEDC, however, said the test and commissioning process of the plant is still ongoing and fine tuning works are still done. The performance test is set on January 7.
Gil Altamira, PEDC commercial manager, said the PEDC supplies power to Panay Electric Company, and the rest of its power supply will go to the Cebu-Negros-Panay grid.*
