Unclear provisions in anti-smoking ordinance may cause confusion

Two days left before the full-blast implementation of the city's Anti-Smoking Ordinance on June 28, 2006 but concerned sectors have noted several gray areas in the ordinance which could cause confusion once it is implemented.

The Iloilo Airport in Mandurriao district is surrounded by barbed wire fence. Last week, a carabao went astray the runway, disrupting the landing of a Philippine Airlines (PAL) plane. Airport guards shot to death the the animal then immediately took it from the runway allowing the plane to finally land.

SP defers approval of P33M supplemental budget

The Sangguniang Panlungsod has deferred the approval of the proposed General Fund Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting to P33,359,236.02 submitted by Mayor Jerry Treñas after several items included in the proposed budget were not clearly justified by the proponent.

School fire causes P1M damage, probe results hang

At least P1 million in damage to property was estimated to have been lost in Wednesday's fire that gutted a major portion of the second floor of Cabalum Western College, burned the school's apartment and three other nearby apartments.
