Admin party wants Rolex vs. Niel

Top Ilonggo leaders of the ruling Lakas party made an offer to opposition leader Congressman Rolex Suplico of Iloilo's Fifth District to be the administration's bet for Iloilo governor. As such, the choice is now between Suplico and Vice Governor Roberto Armada in what appeared to be a longtime plan hatched in Metro Manila.

POEA list of licensed recruitment agencies bares only 41 in city

A week after the regional office of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency warned the public against illegal recruiters, a shortlist of licensed recruitment agencies has now been made.

Almost half of this portion of the Iloilo River has been reclaimed to give way for the construction of a new bridge in Tabucan, Mandurriao. The move however caused fears among nearby residents as they believe it could result to flooding when rainy season comes.

Effects of river reclamation feared

Fishpond operators and nearby residents have raised concern on the possible effects of the reclamation made by the China-International Water and Electrical Corporation at the vicinity of the Carpenters Bridge in Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao. The reclamation affects the river channel connecting Lapaz-Molo-Arevalo districts.

Jaro district has biggest number of registered voters

The district of Jaro has the biggest number of registered voters as reflected in the records of the City Commission on Elections (Comelec). The district which is composed of 42 barangays has a total of 53,816 voters.

A double celebration for the Prince

Iloilo's Prince of Fashion, Mandy Salcedo, celebrated his birthday with a bang with the opening of his new eponymous atelier at E. Lopez Street corner San Vicente, Jaro Iloilo City last February 9, 2007. The nostalgic night started with a cocktail party at 6:00 pm and was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony done by Hon. Jed Mabilog, Liberty Valderama, Susan Wang, Susie Facultad, Linda Hoblitzel, Mafelou Agriam and Tweety Tupas-Balleza.
