P15,000 additional bonus for city employees
Christmas is certainly in the air at city hall as Mayor Jerry P. Treñas announced during the flag ceremony this morning that the extra bonus of regular employees will be released starting today.
The mayor said that the additional bonus of P15,000 per employee has been approved by the Department of Management (DBM) through the Local Budget Memorandum Number 58.
"The fund for the additional bonus has actually been set aside earlier but I have directed the treasurer's office to wait for the guidelines or memorandum from DBM before we release it," Treñas said.
To fund the extra benefit, more than P20,000,000 has been allotted for some 1,700 permanent local government workers.
Earlier, the mayor has already ordered all departments to prepare the necessary payrolls so that the extra bonus could be disbursed the moment the city receives the DBM memorandum. He also ordered the city treasury personnel to render over time services so that everyone can receive their bonuses at the latest possible time.
Treñas farther said that according to DBM, funds covering additional cash gifts should come from the personal services savings (PSS) of the city government.
PSS under Treñas improved after a temporary suspension of the filling up of vacant positions.
The mandated thirteenth-month and P5,000 cash gift of every employee have already been released last November.
Last year, city employees got an additional P12,000 in Holiday benefits. (PIO)
