SP speedily approves budget requests of 27 towns
Request for budget approval of 27 Iloilo towns got an easy nod from members of the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) yesterday.
In what is literally and figuratively "flash reports," Vice Governor Rolex Suplico, chair of the Committee on Appropriations, sought for an omnibus motion for approval and corresponding adoption of committee findings.
The reason? All 27 towns got 27 similar recommendations thus too long and too repetitive to read before the SP body. The Vice Governor as presiding chair temporarily relinquished his post with Fifth District Board Member Jesus Salcedo taking over.
"The budget shall therefore be considered operative on the date of its effectivity as stated in the appropriation ordinance," excerpts of the committee reports went. "The accuracy of the statements/certifications and other supporting documents as well as observance with other existing laws, rules and regulations contained in this Supplemental Budget shall be the responsibility of the municipal government."
Beneficiary-towns are Tubungan (Committee Report No. 254), Pototan (Committee Report No. 255), Maasin (Committee Report No. 256), Lemery (Committee Report No. 257) and two for Zarraga (Committee Report No. 258 - Committee Report No. 260).
