City Social Welfare and Development Officer Claire Dignadice yesterday admitted that some of the barangay captains have the tendency to puff up the number of affected families during calamities as she welcomed the move of the city council to probe her office over the alleged bloated calamity report.
An official order for specific action from the Department of Justice (DOJ) has been officially turned down by two top Capitol officials. Reason? It is not the department’s business to demand for an explanation from them and beyond its mandated jurisdiction. Or so the contention goes by respondent-officials, Governor Niel Tupas and Second District Board Member Cecilia Capadosa.

For the past many years, healthcare for kidney patients in Iloilo was insufficient especially in terms medical facilities. There was an undeniable lack of facilities for kidney transplant in the city. Thus, patients needing medical procedures for the kidney normally would have to go all the way to Manila for these services.
The fisherfolks in the northern town of Patnongon in Antique Province are fully supportive of the new project “Balik bangus, Balik similya” to be launched in a fish sanctuary there.
San Jose, Antique – This year’s Alay Lakad in the Province of Antique has successfully raised more than P20,000 from the donations of capitol officials and employees, students and other concerned sectors of the community.
