12 Negros fishers arrested off Ajuy waters
The arrested illegal fishers being remitted

Twelve fishing boat crew from Negros Occidental were arrested and turned over to the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) for custody following illegal fishing raps filed against them Friday.
Similarly charged for violation of sections 86, 89, 90 and 104 of RA 8550 or the Fisheries Code of the Philippines, the arrested fishers were identified as 28 year-old Rex dela Cruz alias Dodoy, 23 year-old Allan Hamoles, 40 year-old Bernard Abacaro and 21 year-old Rey Abacaro.
Other co-accused were 45 year-old Edgardo Baule, 29 year-old Benjie Lobaton, 21 year-old Roberto Bordonia, 36 year-old Ronnie Guio, 24 year-old Joel Suarez, 19 year-old Joemar Dingal and the youngest in the group, 18 year-old Cherol Carloceta.
The twelve were remitted to the IRC following the order of Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor Bernabe Dusaban pending the posting of corresponding bail for their temporary liberty. It was not immediately known how much was recommended for each of the accused however The News Today (TNT) gathered from sources that the amount could range between P20,000 to P50,000.
Docketed as I.S. Nos. 2005-2276 to 2279, the illegal fishing raps came after the arrest made by sea marshals of the Philippine Coast Guard based in Estancia, Iloilo.
In a report, TNT learned that the crewmen were caught within the prohibited fishing zone of the territorial waters of the Municipality of Ajuy.
