Where's the autopsy report?, warden asks on reported foul play in inmate's death
Foul-play or not, the latest death inside the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) remains unresolved with retired Police Senior Supt. Juan Mabugat, IRC warden still unable to begin any official investigation.
The reason? He has yet to obtain a copy of the autopsy report made on the remains of the victim, 65 year-old Ildefonso Pillano nor granted a visit by the victim's family. As such, said warden has nothing 'solid' to back up his move as he said, that talks of un-natural cause of death principally was sourced out from the yet to be presented autopsy findings.
Pillano was discovered lifeless by a fellow inmate early morning of November 3 inside a bathroom by the IRC main compound. Senior Supt. Mabugat initially downplayed any suspicions of foul play particularly with the victim's grandson, a fellow inmate, likewise supporting possible cardiac arrest as cause of death.
In IRC detention for a parricide case, Pillano has since been detained January of 2004 and has no known enemies nor was in any kind of 'in-house' trouble.
'Sad to say but up to this time, I have no autopsy result on hand. Up to now, despite my efforts to coordinate and meet with the family, nobody has come forward. I would need their cooperation and decision on this as well if I am to pursue any further investigation. Maybe after the funeral, they will have made a decision by then,' Senior Supt. Mabugat said in a The News Today interview.
Any suspects as of yet though? Said warden disclosed that efforts are underway to validate information that one inmate who hails from Calinog may have a direct hand or at least knowledge on the victim's fate and situation prior to his death.
No specifics were given on the subject.
