4-H Club Provincial Coordinator Dolores Montaņo said the two were chosen among the hopeful young farmers in the province of Iloilo who were nominated by their respective municipalities.
She said to avail the grant, the nominees should be bona fide members of 4-H Club in their respective municipalities and should have an existing project engaging in integrated farming such as rice production, backyard swine and fowl raising, gardening and freshwater fish farming, among others.
She said they also underwent screening processes such as field visitations and interviews conducted by provincial, regional and national evaluators.
The duo also submitted a Record Book where their income statement, documentation, certificates and other relevant credentials were attached as bases of their qualification to the program.
Tubola and Arconada will be flying to Manila on January 13 to study Nippongo for two months there.
They will also undergo training and exposure to different JAEC projects and at PhilRice (a top rice research institute in the country) in Luzon area.
These young farmers also thanked Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. for the financial support he has extended to them.
Tubola and Arconada also expressed gratefulness to their coordinators Josephine Tumadiang and Tita Ducasi, respectively, for their guidance and support to make them effective young farmers in their respective locality.
Montaņo, on the other hand, was happy upon learning that Herjo Bagalayos, a young farmer from Dingle, Iloilo is coming home soon after his 18 months training on cutflower propagation in Hawaii.
So far upon her assumption as the Provincial 4-H Club coordinator in 1997, the province has already sent nine young farmers to Japan and one to Hawaii. (Capitol News)
