Iloilo cops to undergo screening
Iloilo -- Police personnel assigned to the Iloilo Provincial Police Office will be undergoing a screening process to determine if they are qualified or not.
"Part of the inventory is that I am going to conduct an audit inventory of human resources, not only physical resources, to determine if they (police personnel) posses all the requirements, training and qualifications for the position," Senior Superintendent Joel Napoleon Coronel, who formally took over the helm Monday, told The News Today.
He said that the directive applies to all police personnel, not only to the chiefs of police.
Those found wanting, he said, would be undergoing retraining.
For the first 100 days as IPPO chief, Napoleon said that "he will conduct an inventory of all assets and resources of the command and then conduct an audit to determine if it is sufficient to meet the expectations of the IPPO."
He stressed though that ongoing operations will not be hampered.
"Expect more intensified patrols-mobile and foot, and checkpoints in different areas, especially critical areas," Coronel stressed, adding that he will meet with the town police chiefs to determine the critical areas.
Coronel, a member of the Philippine Military Academy batch 87, took over the post from OIC director, Supt. Cornelio Defensor, who temporarily filled in the vacuum left when Sr. Supt. Efren Quintos retired.
