American company to open another call center in the city
Iloilo City -- An American company is expected to employ some 600 people as they have already manifested their intention to engage in a call center business venture in Iloilo City.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said officials of company had already paid him a courtesy call. He refused to identify the name of the company but said it is already definite for the company to establish another call center in the city.
The officials of the company have been in the city three times before they recently paid a visit to the chief executive. The mayor said the company has already identified an area where they could put up their business site.
Treñas said the company is one of the big players in the Philippines. The company is expected to become operational in six months time.
He added, it is a high-paying company, the initial salary of employees is P18,000 per month.
Treñas said big amount of money will circulate as soon as the call center becomes operational.
"Millions of pesos from the company to employees will change hands. This is a great help in the employment of Ilonggos. This will be the fourth call center to operate in Iloilo City," Treñas said.
The chief executive attributed the entry of call centers in the city to the quality of education in the city as manifested by the traits and characteristics possessed by personnel employed in call centers, location and accessibility of government officials and availability of information needed by prospective investors.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has already created a center wherein any prospective investors could access information about the city, province and the island-province of Guimaras. Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. executive director Ben Jimena takes care of the center, said Treñas.
