PIA sets deadline for 2006 IWAG Award nominations
The Philippine Information Agency Area Management Office (PIA-AMO) 6 has set the deadline for submission of nominees for the 2006 IWAG Award on February 10, 2006.
The IWAG Award is an incentive scheme designed by the PIA 6 to give recognition to campus paper writers who excel in development communication. Since 1977, the PIA has cited students for promoting national development through the campus publications.
Each school publication, high school and college in the region, is entitled to one nominee who has passed the school's selection committee. On top of all the other criteria, the nominee must have participated in the PIA-sponsored Basic Journalism-Seminar workshops.
Only the nominee who has obtained an average rating of 85 percent from the IWAG Award evaluation committee of PIA 6 can qualify as an awardee.
The nomination form should be accompanied by the following supporting documents: one ID-sized picture, clippings of at least five major DEVCOM articles published for school years 2003-2004,2004-2005 and 2005-2006, certified by the school paper adviser, for the college level.
For high school level, the nomination form should be accompanied by clippings of three major DEVCOM articles published during the same school years as above.
For other supporting documents, the nominees' involvement in community and school activities, communication work and training programs attended, academic achievements and other honors and awards received should also be attached.
The presentation of the IWAG award shall be given to the recipient preferably during the school's graduation or recognition day.
