CEO officials refuse to release inventory reports
After flaunting their supposed records on inventory of allmaterials, City Engineer Marito Amatorio and Engr. Marcelino Umahag, officer-in-charge of the electrical and safety division of the City Engineer's Office (CEO), refused to release their inventory records.
In the recentpress conference at the Iloilo City Hall, Amatorio and Umahag said the media can check on their inventory records. Both, Amatorio and Umahag's statementwas in relation to the allegations hurled to them byalleged extortionist Ricardo Gumabong.
Gumabong has also implicated Amatorio, Umahag, Imelda Aguadera in illegal transactions at the CEO. The three denied Gumabong's allegations.
Gumabong said some of the employees of the safety and electrical division were selling government properties and those confiscated in several operations against power theft. He saidhalogen lamps and electrical wirings are among those which went out of the CEO without proper documentation.
The importance of the inventory report of government properties and those confiscated by the task force are vital in checking the veracity of Gumabong's statement. Earlier, the CEO officials denied they have procured halogen lamps for the city's streetlights. They claimed they use high-pressured sodium lights.
Amatorio, when asked if he could provide the media a copy of the inventory report replied "lantawon ta lang (I'll see)." While, Umahag who first made public thattheir inventory records are intact and are ready for public scrutiny backtracked from his previous statements.
On his part,Umahagsaidone should make their request directly to Amatorio in order to have a copy of the inventory report.
Both, Amatorio and Umahag have recommended for the filing of an administrative case against Gumabong. The recommendation came after Gumabong implicated them in illegal transactions at the CEO.
