DILG okays conduct of 2006 Best Tanod search
The best-performing Barangay Tanod shall once more be honored through an endeavor unique to Western Visayas.
The project is the department's way of recognizing the invaluable contribution of the Barangay Tanod in maintaining peace and order and public safety in the community, and at the same time inspire the Tanod to performing better for the sake of their barangay.
The DILG and its Regional Management Coordinating Committee (RMCC) in the region have approved the conduct of the 2006 Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod in the third quarter of this year. The search shall be one of the highlights of the 2006 National Crime Prevention Week celebration in the first week of September.
During its regular meeting on May 10, 2006, the RMCC, chaired by DILG Regional Director Evelyn A. Trompeta and composed of the regional directors of DILG agencies National Police Commission, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Philippine Public Safety College-Regional Training School, passed Resolution No. 2006-01 adopting the search, and approving the release of funds for the conduct of the said activity.
As chair of the RMCC, DILG Regional Director Evelyn A. Trompeta has recently convened the Regional Search Committee to review the criteria for the four categories: Group, Individual, Posthumous and Award for Heroism.
"We shall try to improve upon what we have started last year," Trompeta said. "By looking back upon our experiences in last year's search, we can now identify the crucial factors that could spell the success of a certain Barangay Tanod individual or group."
Rating for the nominees shall be based upon their organization, community support, trainings, logistics and accomplishment in the year 2005. Individual nominees shall be judged upon his training, leadership and exemplary accomplishments, among others.
