Treñas one of the panelists in Word Urban Forum
City Mayor Jerry Treñas is set to leave Saturday for the Third Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF3) in Vancouver, Canada scheduled from June 19 to 23. He is one of the four panelists in the forum coming from the different parts of the world.
Treñas will leave for Canada on the 17th and will return on June 22. The other panelists for the WUF3 are His Excellency Ato Arkebe Oqubay, State Minister, Ministry of Works and Urban Development Government of Ethiopia (Addis Ababa), Ana Lucia La Rovero, Director, Urban Development Department, Brazilian Institute of Municipal Administration-IBAM (Rio de Janeiro) and Rafael Betancourt, Regional Manager, Latin America and the Caribbean, Canadian Urban Institute (Havana).
Other than the city mayor, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Evelyn Trompeta, Governor Joaquin Rahman Nava of Guimaras, Jose Roni Peñalosa, executive director of the Metro Iloilo Development Council (MIDC), Evan Arias, heads, plans and programs of the Provincial Planning and Development Office of Guimaras and Francis Gentoral, Canadian Urban Institute project manager will also attend the WUF3. The group except for Treñas will leave today (June 14) and will return to the country on the 25th of June.
The WFU3 was established by UN-HABITAT as an inclusive and open forum. It is held every two years and allows dialog among urban actors from all sectors. From the national government, local authorities, private sector, communities, academe and organized labor. They will exchange know-how and generate ideas.
