TSKI celebrates 20th year of helping the poor
Taytay sa Kauswagan Inc. (TSKI) celebrates its 20th year of existence with a hope and trust of empowering the poor and giving them dignity.
This was the inspiring words made by former Vice Governor Demy Sonza, TSKI's Chairman of the Board. Sonza, a historian, said the TKSI is already functional and visible in the 23 provinces in the country. TSKI's theme for its 20th year is “20 years of making the love of Jesus be felt by the poor in our midst.”
In Western Visayas, they are currently helping five towns in Iloilo and one town in Aklan to develop their own products to boost. The towns of San Joaquin, Oton, Sta. Barbara, Janiuay, and Concepcion in Iloilo and Malay in Aklan are the first recipients of the project.
Sonza said they are assisting the community in developing certain products which could generate jobs and add to their money-making capacity. The industry is based on the participation of the community.
The promotion of the One Town, One Product is also in line with the government's program.
Other than being viewed as a lending institution to some 200,000 clients, the TSKI is currently working for a creation of a village with low cost housing project in Barangay Alegria, Oton. The program is also in relation to the aim of the group which is primarily to help the poor.
Aside from the different programs and projects, the TSKI also sponsored a conference dubbed as Iloilo Franchising Conference and Symposium to add more color to their existence. “It is only after our 18th year that we celebrated our existence,” said Sonza.
Meanwhile, Councilor Ely Estante, representing Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, appreciates the 20 long years of TSKI's existence in yesterday's opening of the Iloilo Franchising Conference and Symposium.
“The Taytay sa Kauswagan has played an important role to the continual growth and development not only of Iloilo City but the neighboring municipalities.”
Estante said the conference will arouse greater entrepreneurial interests among the people and spur economic activities. It will also encourage the growth of commercial enterprises. “Mayor Treñas and I are confident that social and economic growth in Iloilo City is assured with Taytay sa Kauswagan at the forefront of stimulating business interest.”
The councilor added the city has all the amenities, infrastructures, pool of competent manpower and needed facilities to become haven for investors in Western Visayas. “The city is privileged to have the Taytay sa Kauswagan and the thousands of men and women of the Taytay sa Kauswagan family.”
