Retrieval operations to end even as 19 persons still missing

Three days after the Igbaras tragedy, rescue volunteers yesterday (Thursday) scoured the Tangyan River starting from the site where the ill-fated passenger jeepney fell up to the mouth of the river in Guimbal, Iloilo hoping to find more bodies.

But as of press time yesterday volunteers merely saw debris and logs stuck in some parts of the river. No dead bodies.

Mabilog wants COA to reevaluate stalled housing project

The Sangguniang Panglungsod committee on engineering, construction and public works chaired by City Councilor Jed Patrick Mabilog wants the Commission on Audit (COA) to reevaluate the expenses incurred in the implementation of the stalled Iloilo City Employees Socialized Housing Project in Pavia, Iloilo.

Despite the heavy rains Monday (October 2) noon, fire broke in Purok Mainuswagon, Brgy. Bolilao, Mandurriao district which turned into ashes a total of 22 houses. Five other houses, however, were partially burned. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the hour-long blaze which gobbled up P1.2 million worth of damage to properties. Below are photos of the fire scene the day after the conflagration happened.
