City dad wants internet shops to block porn sites
Councilor Julienne Baronda is pushing an ordinance mandating all shops here to install a software that would block access to pornograhic websites.
The Iloilo City Council is now deliberating on the proposed ordinance.
In filing the ordinance, Baronda cited the proliferation of immoral and obscene websites on the internet.
"Pornography corrupts the mind of people, especially the minors to the detriment of their psychological and moral development," she said.
"Establishments offering internet services must provide appropriate mechanisms, software or computer programs to block pornographic websites," the lady councilor said.
Baronda likewise proposed the creation of a City Internet Regulatory Board which will be tasked to enforce and monitor the ordinance and conduct investigation of cases involving violation thereat.
Erring establishments will face penalty ranging from P3,000 to P5,000, and closure or revocation of permit and license to operate. (PNA)
