SP to 'wait and see' over questioned gas station
The Sangguniang Panlungsod will not dip its hand in the petition hailed by residents of Barangay Dulonan, Arevalo against a proposed gasoline station owned by businessman Jose Santos.
In last Wednesday's regular session, the council decided only to note down the communication made by the residents against the proposed gasoline station. The SP will not take any action on the communication sent by petitioners led by Emmanuel Lucero.
According to Majority Floor Leader Eduardo Peñaredondo, the residents informed the council that they have a pending motion for reconsideration before the Iloilo City Zoning Board of Appeals and Adjustment (CZBAA).
As to date, the oppositors are still waiting for the result of the motion for reconsideration they filed before the zoning board of appeals and adjustment. The complainants alleged that the board issued a Special Use Permit to Santos Petroleum Corporation without hearing the petitioners' side.
CZBAA held a hearing a few weeks ago in Brgy. Dulonan in response to the Special Use Permit they have already granted to the owners of the proposed gasoline station. Since, then nothing was heard from them. The same hearing will be used as basis for the board to either deny or affirm the Special Use Permit they have already issued to Santos.
Petitioners attended the said hearing including the couple Jose and Carmen Santos. The zoning board of appeals also came full force with City Legal Office chief Atty. Edgar Gil.
The petitioners are willing to bring their cause in the proper courts should they feel they are not given justice before the CZBAA.
